Abstract

Animals serve as model organisms and the world's silent sentinels, keeping an eye on the state of the environment. These are non-human animal species that can be utilized to learn about particular biological processes and to gather data that can shed light on how other organisms function. The zebrafish, or Daio rerio, is one of the best model organisms used to study molecular genetics, developmental biology, cancer, toxicology, and drug discovery. Zebrafish are also being used more and more as genetic model organisms for aquaculture species, in toxicogenomics, and to create disease models of zebrafish that can be used in human biomedicines. This little fish's easy maintenance, ability to reproduce, and transparent early development make it a useful model organism for many research fields. With the sequencing of the zebrafish genome, researchers can now investigate the roles of over 14,000 genes by creating mutations in those genes. Scientists are trying to identify the precise elements involved in the process of zebrafish heart muscle repair in order to assist people with heart issues. The use of zebrafish as a potential substitute model and its benefits over other animal models for biomedical research on a range of human disease conditions are the main topics of this review.
