Abstract

Aspartame, which is a widely used artificial sweetener, has always been a topic of controversy due to concerns regarding its potential carcinogenicity. This review article studies the existing scientific literature on the safety of aspartame and if it is associated with cancer risk. We will also explore the alternative sweeteners that are suitable for individuals with diabetes. According to the findings, aspartame does not increase the risk of cancer when consumed within acceptable daily intake limits. However, certain vulnerable populations may need to be cautious. Also, natural, and artificial sweetener alternatives provide safer options for diabetic individuals.
